What you’re paying for

  • Fitting the new cooktop into the existing cut-out, with the manufacturer’s clips and seal.
  • The gas connection and a full leak test where the new cooktop is gas.
  • Plugging in and testing where the new cooktop is electric or induction with a plug.
  • Capping the gas point safely where you are moving away from gas.
  • Taking the old unit and the packaging away with us.
  • 12-month workmanship warrantyCovers the installation: the connections we made and the way we fitted it

What if extra work is needed? If additional work is needed, we explain the situation and the cost before doing anything further. Nothing extra is ever charged without your approval.

About this service

Straight answers. Before you book.

You supply the cooktop; we fit it at existing connections and cut-out. Gas and suitable plug-in electric or induction models are covered; hardwired electrical connections need an electrician. Send us the make and model if you are unsure before booking across most of Sydney metro.

Questions about cooktop installation

Which cooktops can you install?

We fit gas cooktops and electric or induction models supplied ready to plug into a suitable existing outlet, subject to the manufacturer’s requirements. Hardwired connections need an electrician. Send us the make and model if you want us to check before you book.

Can you remove my existing cooktop?

Removal is included where the old cooktop can be unplugged or disconnected from gas. If it is hardwired, an electrician must disconnect it before our visit so we can lift it out.

Should I choose gas cap-off instead?

Choose gas cap-off if you need the old gas cooktop disconnected and the gas point capped, with an electrician handling the new hardwired appliance. Choose cooktop installation when you also want us to fit a suitable replacement cooktop as part of the job.

What we install

  • Gas cooktops — connected to your existing gas point and fully leak tested.
  • Induction and electric cooktops supplied ready to plug in — where there is already a suitable outlet in the cabinet and the manufacturer’s requirements allow it, that is an appliance going into a socket, and we fit it like any other.
  • Gas out, electric in — we disconnect the old gas cooktop and cap the gas point properly, ready for whatever replaces it.

The one thing we cannot finish, and how to tell

Some cooktops — most full-size induction units, in particular — are wired directly into their own dedicated circuit rather than plugged in. That final connection is licensed electrical work, and we do not do electrical work. We would rather say so here than take your booking and leave you with a cooktop sitting on the bench.

How to tell which you have: look at the cable on the new cooktop. We can fit models supplied ready to plug into a suitable existing outlet, subject to the manufacturer’s requirements and the outlet being right for it. If the cable ends in bare wires or a fixed connection block, it needs an electrician for that last step. A plug on its own does not settle it — send us the make and model and we will check.

If yours is the hardwired kind, this is not the product you want — we would be charging you for a job we cannot finish. Order the gas cooktop disconnection and cap-off instead, which is priced separately. We take the old cooktop out, cap the gas properly and leak test it, and your electrician fits the new one afterwards. Use your own, or ask and we will point you at one — they bill you directly and we take nothing from it.

Send us the make and model before you order and we will tell you honestly which of these you are looking at.

What this price does not cover

  • Electrical wiring work — connecting a hardwired cooktop, or installing a new circuit, outlet or switch. That is an electrician’s job.
  • Disconnecting a hardwired old cooktop. Most have a normal plug we simply unplug. A few are wired straight into the cabinet, and that has to be undone by an electrician before we can lift the unit out — so in that case their visit comes first, not ours. A photo of how yours is connected is enough for us to tell you.
  • Cutting or enlarging the benchtop opening, or altering cabinetry. If the new cooktop is a different size to the old one, tell us before you book — measurements are the one thing worth checking twice.
  • Running a new gas point where there is not one already.
  • Putting right existing gas work we find to be non-compliant. If we find something, we explain it and what it would cost before touching it.

How it works

  1. Order this installation and pick your day and arrival window at checkout.
  2. Have the new cooktop on site, unboxed if you can, so we can check it against the opening before starting.
  3. We remove the old unit and fit the new one — gas connected and leak tested, or plugged in and tested.
  4. We take the old cooktop and the rubbish away.

We will need access to the gas isolation point where there is gas involved.

Gas cooktops: licence and safetyNSW gas safety rules

In New South Wales, gas work must be carried out by a licensed gasfitter, and a poor connection is a safety risk, not just a leak.

Warranty: what’s coveredOur workmanship · the maker’s warranty · your ACL rights

Our 12-month workmanship warranty covers the installation: the connections we made and the way we fitted it. If something we did causes a leak or a fault, we come back and put it right at no charge.

The cooktop you supply keeps its own manufacturer’s warranty. Your rights under Australian Consumer Law apply on top of both.
