What does cooktop installation include?
This is a replacement installation using the existing benchtop cut-out and suitable existing connections. You supply the new cooktop, including its clips and seal.
- Removing the old cooktop where it unplugs or can be disconnected from gas.
- Fitting the replacement into the existing cut-out with the manufacturer’s clips and seal.
- A licensed gasfitter connecting and leak testing a gas cooktop.
- Plugging in and testing a suitable electric or induction model at an existing outlet.
- Capping the gas point when switching from gas to a suitable plug-in replacement.
- Taking the old cooktop and packaging away.
Gas, plug-in or hardwired: which service do you need?
Gas connections require a licensed gasfitter. Electric and induction cooktops are covered only when supplied ready to plug into a suitable existing outlet and the manufacturer’s requirements allow it. A plug alone does not confirm suitability: send us the make and model before booking if you are unsure.
Bare wires or a fixed connection block indicate a hardwired connection. An electrician must make that final connection; this installation service does not include electrical wiring work. If the old cooktop is hardwired, arrange for an electrician to disconnect it before our visit.
Replacing gas with a hardwired induction cooktop?
If an electrician will fit your new hardwired cooktop, choose gas cooktop disconnection and cap-off instead of full cooktop installation. That service is $170 including GST: a licensed gasfitter disconnects and removes the old gas unit, caps the gas point and leak tests the capped line.
The electrician fits and connects the new hardwired appliance separately. If the replacement is suitable to plug into an existing outlet and you want us to fit it, cooktop installation covers fitting it and capping the old gas point in one job.

What is outside the fixed installation price?
The $250 installation price excludes the cooktop itself, electrical wiring or new outlets and circuits, disconnecting a hardwired old unit, cutting or enlarging the benchtop, cabinetry alterations and running a new gas point.
Check the replacement dimensions and cut-out measurements before booking. If existing gas work needs correction, or other extra work is needed, we explain it, price it and get your agreement before it starts.

Cooktop installation questions
Check the connection type and installation details before booking.
How much does cooktop installation cost in Sydney?
The current cooktop installation price is $250 including GST when you supply the unit. It covers fitting a gas cooktop or a suitable plug-in electric or induction model at existing connections and cut-out. Electrical wiring and benchtop alterations are excluded.
Can you install a plug-in or hardwired induction cooktop?
Yes, if it is supplied ready to plug into a suitable existing outlet and the manufacturer’s requirements allow it. Hardwired connections need an electrician for the final connection. If the old cooktop is hardwired too, an electrician must disconnect it before our visit. Check your postcode in our service area.
Should I book cooktop installation or gas cap-off?
Book cooktop installation if you want us to fit a suitable replacement. If an electrician will fit your new hardwired unit and you only need the old gas cooktop removed and the gas point capped, choose gas cap-off at $170 including GST. The services cover different work; check your model before booking.
What should I have ready for a gas cooktop installation?
Have the new cooktop, its manufacturer’s clips and seal on site, and give us access to the gas isolation point. If the old cooktop is hardwired, arrange for an electrician to disconnect it before our visit. Check the cooktop installation details before booking.
Does cooktop installation include enlarging the benchtop cut-out?
No. Standard installation uses the existing cut-out. Cutting or enlarging the benchtop opening and altering cabinetry are excluded. Check the replacement dimensions and cut-out measurements before booking, and tell us if the new cooktop is a different size to the old one. Review cooktop installation details.
Will you take my old cooktop and packaging away?
Yes. Taking the old unit and the packaging away is included. If the old cooktop is hardwired, arrange for an electrician to disconnect it before our visit. Check the cooktop installation details before booking.
