Returns & Warranty Policy

At Tap Life, we take pride in providing high-quality plumbing fixtures and professional installation. Because our business model involves the custom supply and installation of products sourced from major Australian suppliers (like Bunnings), the following policy applies to all purchases.

1. Australian Consumer Law

Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. For major failures with the service, you are entitled:

  • To cancel your service contract with us; and

  • To a refund for the unused portion, or to compensation for its reduced value.

You are also entitled to choose a refund or replacement for major failures with goods.

2. Change of Mind

Please choose carefully. As a small business operating as a sole trader, we do not offer returns or refunds for “change of mind” once an item has been purchased and/or installed. We encourage you to review product specifications and dimensions on our website before booking your installation.

3. Product Defects & Manufacturer Warranty

All taps, faucets, and fixtures supplied by Tap Life are covered by their respective Manufacturer’s Warranty (e.g., Methven, Dorf, Caroma).

  • Defects Found After Installation: If a product develops a fault (e.g., a leak from the cartridge or a finish defect) within the manufacturer’s warranty period, the warranty resides with the manufacturer.

  • Your Options:

    1. Direct Claim: You can contact the manufacturer directly to lodge a warranty claim. This is often the fastest way to receive a replacement part or unit.

    2. Assisted Claim: Alternatively, you can contact us at info@taplife.com.au, and I will facilitate the claim with the supplier/manufacturer on your behalf.

  • Important: Manufacturer warranties generally cover the replacement of the product or parts. They may not always cover the labor costs for re-installation unless specified by the manufacturer’s terms.

  • This includes faults in the tap itself (e.g. cartridge failure, leaks, manufacturing defects).

    It does not cover:

    • Damage caused by misuse, impact, or tampering
    • Pre-existing plumbing issues (e.g. high pressure, corrosion in pipes)
    • Blockages or debris in the water supply

After 12 months, manufacturer warranty still applies, but labour may be chargeable.

4. Installation Warranty

Tap Life provides a 12-month Workmanship Guarantee on the installation service itself.

  • If a leak or issue occurs due to the way the item was installed, I will return to rectify the issue at no cost to you.

  • This guarantee does not cover issues caused by pre-existing plumbing conditions, household water pressure issues, or faults within the product itself.

5. How to Report an Issue

If you encounter a defect or an issue with your installation:

  1. Take Photos/Video: Capture the issue clearly.

  2. Contact Us: Email info@taplife.com.au directly with your order number and a description of the fault.

  3. Assessment: We will determine if the issue is a product defect (Manufacturer Warranty) or an installation issue (Workmanship Guarantee) and advise on the next steps.
