What does gas cooktop cap-off include?
The $170 fixed service covers the existing cooktop gas point. Turning off an isolation valve is not the same as disconnecting and capping the point.
- A licensed gasfitter disconnecting the old gas cooktop.
- Lifting the old cooktop out of the benchtop and taking it away.
- Capping and sealing the cooktop gas point.
- Leak testing the capped gas line before finishing.
Who fits the replacement cooktop?
If your replacement is hardwired, an electrician fits and connects it separately after the gas cap-off. Electrical work is outside this service. If the old cooktop also has a hardwired connection, an electrician must disconnect that before our visit.
If your replacement is supplied ready to plug into a suitable existing outlet and the manufacturer’s requirements allow it, choose cooktop installation instead. What is excluded from gas disconnection?
The price does not include fitting a replacement cooktop, electrical work, gas work anywhere other than the cooktop point, or making good the benchtop or cabinetry.
Correcting existing non-compliant gas work is separate. If extra work is needed, we explain it, price it and get your agreement before it starts.

Do I need an electrician before the gasfitter arrives?
Yes, if the old cooktop has a hardwired electrical connection. An electrician must disconnect that before we can remove it. If you are unsure, send a photo before booking so the work can be arranged in the right order.
